INTRODUCTION

In India, every state has different criteria, norms, and processes for admissions and exams for B.Ed. program. In Uttar Pradesh, if a person wants to do a regular B.Ed. course, then they have to take a joint state entrance exam, conducted for admissions to different universities or colleges of UP, thus one must pass this exam to grab a seat.

UP B.Ed. JEE

In Uttar Pradesh, a joint entrance exam is conducted every year at the state level for admissions to a 2-year B.Ed. program commonly referred to as UP B.Ed. JEE Uttar Pradesh B.Ed. Joint Entrance Examination.

Every year, the Government of Uttar Pradesh gives the responsibility of conducting the UP BEd JEE exam to different universities. In 2024 the Bundelkhand University conducted the exam like it conducted in 2023. In 2019, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, conducted the joint BEd entrance exam. However, in 2021, the exam was conducted by Lucknow University. In 2021, around 5,91,305 candidates appeared for the UP BEd JEE exam.

JOB PROSPECTS

After completing B.Ed. wide range of lucrative job opportunities open up for the B.Ed. graduates. One can go to the job sector directly or can go for further studies i.e., M.Ed., PhD in Education. In the job sector, they can go for teachers in government and private schools, school counselors, content writers, home tutors, and educators in ed tech organizations, etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates should fulfill the following criteria to be deemed eligible:

Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the bachelor’s degree from a recognized university

50% in master’s degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities

Bachelors in engineering or technology from a state or Central recognized University with a specialization in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualifications equivalent

Students who have taken the Shastri /BA (with Sanskrit word) 3rd-year program from any university or authorized examining body must have received at least 50% in the aggregate or passed the Acharya 1st year /(MA Sanskrit) 1st year/Acharya Setu (Acharya bridge course) or comparable examination. Only Shastri/BA (with Sanskrit) marks would be considered for 50% eligibility.

Those candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in the same year as the entrance exam will also be eligible to apply for this entrance examination but It will be mandatory for such candidates to possess minimum qualifications before the counseling process.

DOMICILE

Candidates must be citizens of India regardless of their state of Residence according to the official UP B.Ed. eligibility criteria.

Candidates who do not have permanent residence in Uttar Pradesh shall be considered unreserved candidates they also have to provide the required domicile documents during the admissions

AGE CRITERIA

There is no specified Age Limit for UP B.Ed, prescribed by any university. They have not mentioned any minimum or maximum age limit as eligibility criteria for the Uttar Pradesh Bachelor of Education Joint Entrance Exam.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

After checking their eligibility candidates have to fill out registration forms for the UP B.Ed. JEE.

After taking the exam merit list and results will be released by the exam conducting university and counselling will begin.

The counseling or seat allotment process will be in 4 phases. After the four phases are over tool counseling will be conducted and seat allotment results will be out simultaneously. The shortlisted candidates will have to pay the required seat confirmation charges or fees and get their documents verified. Once the seat allotment process is over candidates can proceed with the direct admission process in their respective colleges.

EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS

MODE OF EXAMINATION: Offline mode (OMR sheet-based examination), objective-type multiple choice questions.

MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION: This exam will be conducted in both English and Hindi (bilingual) except for language and Sahitya papers.

NUMBER OF PAPER: 2

DURATION OF EXAM: 3 hours for each paper

MAXIMUM MARKS: 200 (each paper)

MARKING SCHEME: Each question carries 2 marks

NEGATIVE MARKING: For each incorrect answer one third (1/3rd) mark will be deducted there will be no marks given or deducted for un-answered or un- attempted questions

However, after the process of challenges of the answer key in case there are multiple correct options or any change in the key, only those candidates who have attempted it correctly as per the revised answer key will be rewarded marks

In case a question is dropped due to some technical error full marks should be given to all the candidates irrespective of the fact who has attempted it or not.

*PART A is mandatory for all

*PART B is of language, candidates have to attempt questions of Hindi or English language (not both)

PAPER 2

*PART A is mandatory for all

*PART B includes subject-specific questions, candidates will only have to answer questions of the specific subject category opted by them while filing their online application form. All the questions in the respective subject category will be of graduate level.

About the course

The aim of the Master’s Degree Programme in English (MEG) is to give learners a sound basis in language as well as a deep understanding of Literatures such as American, British, Indian English Literature, and New Literatures, such as, Canadian, and Australian, with the option to specialise in a particular area of interest. The learners are also expected to develop confidence in their critical and analytical abilities.

This 64-credit programme has a two-tier structure: two compulsory core courses over a period of two years and two optional modules. Each course is worth 8 credits. MEG-05 is offered in the first year as a compulsory course, while learners need to opt for either MEG-4 or MEG 15 as a compulsory course in the second year. Two compulsory courses and two modules of 24 credits each to be chosen as per the learner’s area of interest.

Learners will develop an understanding of English and other literatures of their choice in their proper historio-critical prospective. A good knowledge of reading, comprehension, and writing skills would be prerequisite for this Programme. There are four modules available in particular areas of specialization. Those wishing to specialize in any area can take all three courses from the particular module along with MEG -05 (Literary Theory and Criticism) 4X8= 32 credits and earn a PG Diploma in that particular area of study.

Learners who may wish to exist from the Master’s Programme after the first year would still get a PG Diploma in the specific area after having completed a specific module of their choice along with MEG 05. Alternatively, once you have completed the PG Diploma in a particular area, you may wish to take admission in 2nd Year of the MA English Programme. The MEG Programme is designed to be modular to also offer specialization in an area and to facilitate the ease of entry and exit for learners should the need arise.

Duration of the course

The normal duration of the course is 2 years but it can be extended to 4 years(in different sittings) from the date of registration. Thus,

* Maximum duration- 4 years

In case a student is not able to pass the exams in two years, s/he has to re-register as a fresh candidate, in case s/he wants to pursue the Programme

Bachelor’s Degree or a Higher Degree from a recognized University.

No maximum or minimum age bar is specified for doing this course.

Fees Structure

13600/- for full Programme to be paid year wise @ 6800/- per year (subject to change annually) .

COURSE DETAILS

The MA English Programme is constituted of 8 Courses of 8 credits each. 4 Courses of 8 credits each in the 1st Year and another four courses of 8 credits each in the 2nd Year. In case you cannot complete the MA English Programme and wish to exit the Programme you would still get a PG Diploma for the first year of study provided you have completed a full module from amongst the various modules on offer.

Examination Pattern

1) Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA): 30 % weightage and is a continuous process of evaluation. It is mandatory to secure 40 % in each TMA.

2) Term End Exams (TEE): 70 % weightage and it is mandatory to secure 40 % in each course.

(vi) Applied discipline / Subjects such as Mathematical Physics, Electronics, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Nautical Science, Molecular Biology, B. Tech, B.E., Paramedical courses etc. will not be considered as a degree in school teaching subjects.

(vii) Teaching subjects must have been counted in awarding the division at the graduation level.

(viii) Applicants for teaching of Commerce must possess a Master’s Degree in Commerce with at least 50% marks.
